A PLACE FOR EVERYONE
Harbor House is here for the whole community.
While Calm Waters was created with Veterans and their families at heart,
Harbor House welcomes everyone. Our services and opportunities are available
to Veterans, families, caregivers, and community members alike.
When we strengthen the community around Veterans, we strengthen the Veterans within it.

Nutritious Food. Dignity. Choice.

Our pantry provides nutritious food to individuals and families in need in a welcoming, respectful environment. We believe everyone deserves access to good food without judgment or unnecessary barriers.

We use a point-based system to promote equitable distribution and ensure our available resources reach the greatest number of people. This system allows individuals and families to choose food items that best fit their household’s needs while helping reduce waste.

There are no income restrictions, and utilizing other community, government, or charitable resources does not prevent you from using our pantry.

Getting started is simple. Clients only need to complete an enrollment packet to access pantry services.

Everyone is welcome. Everyone deserves access to nutritious food with dignity.

A Fresh Start Begins With a Place to Call Home.

Our Security Deposit Assistance Program helps eligible individuals and families overcome the financial barrier of a rental security deposit and move toward stable housing. The program is supported through HUD funding and follows applicable South Dakota Housing guidelines.

This is an income-based program. Applicants must meet applicable income requirements, provide proof of income, and complete an intake packet along with any required documentation.

Because resources are limited, priority is given to individuals and families with the greatest demonstrated need.

Participants are responsible for finding suitable housing, communicating with the landlord, scheduling the required housing inspection, and providing the necessary information and documentation throughout the process.

Housing inspections required as part of the grant process are conducted on Wednesdays. A minimum of 7 days’ advance notice is required to ensure staff availability. Participants should plan accordingly when coordinating with their landlord and anticipated move-in date.

Security Deposit Assistance funds are designated specifically for the required security deposit for an eligible rental unit. Funds cannot be used for pet fees, pet deposits, rent, application fees, utility deposits, or other expenses.

Getting started is simple. Applicants must complete an intake packet and provide the required proof of income and documentation. Eligibility and assistance are determined according to program requirements and available funding.

Our goal is to help remove barriers to safe, stable housing and provide a pathway toward a place to call home.
